The role of nomadic tourism on the promotion of livability processes and the improved quality of life in nomadic societies in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province

Abstract

One of the areas that can attract domestic and foreign capitals and consequently bring about economic development is nomadic tourism. However, nomads are a group of people who are usually neglected and their settlement centers are not in good living conditions. Livability can play an effective role in this regard by improving the nomads’ settlement conditions. Based on the mutual relationship between livability and nomadic tourism, in order for tourism to help improve the livability in nomads, its role should be identified and given special attention. The development of nomadic tourism can enhance the nomadic households’ incomes and job opportunities, and prevent nomadic migrations through improving the quality of life and balanced distribution of welfare services and facilities in nomadic areas. Given the nature and type of the present research, in general, a quantitative research method is used. As to the purpose, the current research is an applied study. In terms of the degree of monitoring and control of variables, it is a field research, and in terms of the method of data collection and generalizability, it is a survey research. The results showed that nomadic tourism was influential in the improvement of socio-cultural, physical-spatial and environmental dimensions in the livability of the nomads. However, it was not that successful in the economic and educational dimensions and should be prioritized by policy makers and planners.
