This research is going to study different aspects of trusting, -interpersonal and generalized- the opposite sex among youth in Tehran, to examine the levels of each indicator. and also it is to evaluate the variables affecting them. As a theoretical model, Chalabi, Giddens, Coleman and Sztompka theories about the trust have been applied. Besides, to close the theory with social fact for indigenous in the lowest level, getting hypothesis from exploratory study has been done. Using the method of survey and cluster multi-stage sampling, the hypotheses are assessed by 254 questionnaires which have been distributed in 3 areas in Tehran. Results indicate that among the respondents the levels of general and interpersonal trust the opposite sex are less than intermediate, which means that the amount of reliability among both men and women is low. However, respondents’ score for generalized trust to the opposite sex is more than intermediate level. Also there is a positive significant association between trust the opposite sex and each of the following variables: feeling of security, basic trust, expressive interactions, feeling of need to the opposite sex, inner commitment, and commitment in the relationships. Among these variables, feeling of security (feeling peaceful, without fear and threat and also feeling of security toward the opposite sex) has the strongest association with dependent variable. In the case of the exploratory variable, personal experiences in the past, which have been taken from exploratory study, the mass media experience has the negative and meaningful association with trust the opposite sex. Three variables, feeling of security, feeling of need to the opposite sex, and commitment in the relationships are meaningful in the regression equation. These variables explain more than 35 percent of dependent variable.
