Purpose: Considering the importance of the concept of socialization in the educational system and also focusing on religious schools in Tehran, the purpose of this article is to identify the value and normative system of the selected sample of these schools in the field of socialization and to examine it from the perspective of the conflict of values in the formation of social issues.
Theoretical framework: Based on the conflict of values approach, two groups of students and school administrators are considered as two groups with the capacity for conflict of values,.
Method: using the thematic analysis method, two categories of data related to the value and normative system of the schools, including the documents of goals and visions and the experiences of the principals have been examined. Also, by conducting semi-structured interviews with graduates and thematic analysis of the interviews, the factors of their convergence or divergence with the normative value system of schools and the process of socialization in them were investigated.
Findings: The model of socialization of schools includes the values and norms of schools in the form of four areas: "beliefs", "rules and rituals", "lifestyle", "ethics" as well as the executive coordinates of socialization including "conditions and requirements" and "techniques and tools". The analysis of the interviews with graduates shows that the factors affecting the success of socialization are "the experience of a safe space based on universal ethics" and the factors affecting the failure are "dogmatism", "denial of rationality", "isolation", "deprivation of freedom" and "superficiality".
