Participation of women in universities is examined in this thesis. University is an important cultural sector and a branch of governmental organization. The study is to account for why women has been accomplished taking the control of positions at state-run universities, although they have made a significant breakthrough in academic fields. The survey also comes up with some practical approaches to ameliorate the state.
The study uses "qualitative interview" as subset of "qualitative methodology" that is common in Anthropological research. We interview 15 manageresses in Tehran University.
The study finds out most of the women refuse managerial offices because they have to make it one's duty to do house works and managerial office needs a lot of time and energy. This attitude is consequent on the "gender socialization" and stem from "social believes". On the other hand, "grouping of men" in the organization is a setback for women. Also structural snags, legal system, viewpoint of men toward women's abilities, lack of equal opportunity and experiment for women, less of self-reliance and corporate discrimination are other effective factors that cause to transfer a few managerial offices to women.
